BRISTOL BOROUGH & TOWNSHIP RESOURCE GUIDE
Home repair resources:
Bristol.
“Bristol” can mean two separate municipalities: Bristol Borough and Bristol Township. They have different offices and different permit procedures, so the first step is confirming which one the property is in.
A LITTLE LOCAL PREPARATION
Find the right information
for your property.
Bristol Borough: original forms from the borough office
Bristol Borough says building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and fire permit applications are picked up at the borough office on Pond Street. Its website copies are marked reference-only; the borough accepts the original multi-part forms. The borough’s code page also says the green permit card must be displayed in a window visible from the street during construction.
Bristol Borough inspections
The borough says inspections are scheduled through Building Inspection Underwriters (BIU), and that you need the permit number, the work address, and the inspection type when you call.
Bristol Township: online portal or in person
Bristol Township says you can apply through its Self-Service Portal or at the township municipal building. Its permit page describes rough inspections while walls are open, a final inspection once work is complete, and a Certificate of Approval at the end.
