MONTGOMERY COUNTY RESOURCE GUIDE
Home repair resources:
Montgomery County.
In Montgomery County, building permits are issued by the borough or township, not by the county. The county keeps a list of links to each municipality’s website, which is the quickest way to find the right office.
A LITTLE LOCAL PREPARATION
Find the right information
for your property.
Start from the county’s municipal list
Montgomery County’s Municipal Websites page links every borough and township, from Abington to Worcester. Find the property’s municipality there and go to that office’s permit or code page.
Mailing names do not follow municipal lines
A mailing-address name can cross township lines. Huntingdon Valley, for example, covers parts of Lower Moreland, Upper Moreland, and Abington townships, all of which are on the county list. Go by the municipality, not the mailing name.
Example: what one township publishes
Lower Moreland Township publishes permit FAQs that list which jobs need a permit and which do not. Other townships publish their own lists, and they are not the same, so read the one for the property.
