BENSALEM TOWNSHIP RESOURCE GUIDE

Home repair resources:
Bensalem.

Bensalem is a single township, so permits, inspections, zoning, and code enforcement all run through one office: the Bensalem Township Building and Planning Department in the municipal building on Byberry Road.

A LITTLE LOCAL PREPARATION

Find the right information
for your property.

01

One department covers the trades

The township says Building and Planning provides plan reviews, permits, and inspections for structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work, plus items such as fences and signs. It also acts as the township’s code enforcement office and administers zoning.

02

Check the township’s permit list for your job

The township’s applications page lists separate permits and requirements, including fence permits, curbs, sidewalks and aprons, emergency residential sewer repair, pools and spas, and residential demolition. Its residential demolition listing asks for utility shut-off letters, so plan for that paperwork early.

03

Paper submissions have a drop box

The township notes a drop box at the south side entrance of the municipal building for permit paperwork, checked during the work day. Keep a copy of everything you drop off with your project records.

Use the right local source

Bensalem borders Northeast Philadelphia. A property on the Philadelphia side of the line follows City L&I rules instead; check the tax bill or deed if you are unsure which side you are on.
